Create your own DMC4 Nero

I spent the last day pencilling the art and colouring it, and it's done, and I like the end results! A custom Trooper 3.2 (series of urban paper toys) done in the likes of Nero from the upcoming Devil May Cry 4 game.

Ever since I played the demo 3 days ago (yes Im a little late), my ass has been on fire waiting for the release of this game next month. Yes, it's that awesome. Demon bashing fun is as good and stylish as ever. Noted: Devil May Cry 4 was categorised as Stylish Action on Xbox Live... Does that make it a genre of it's own?

Once again, Trooper 3.2 is a series of customizable Kubrick/LEGO-esque urban paper toys I just launched. Download the blanks, customize it and build your own miniature characters, complete with box.

Fxconsole 360 and Trooper 3.2 updated

I realised a problem - not everyone has access to editting .PDF files, except those with Photoshop software. So... FXconsole 360 and Trooper 3.2 blank templates have been updated with .PNG files that can be opened and editted with any regular image editor.

If you are one of the many who grabbed the PDF versions that have been up over the last two days, and you're pissed that you can't do graphical work to customize the templates, you'll be pleased to know that the new files can be opened with FREE image editting software.

Check back at Fxconsole here for the regular image files.

Trooper 3.2 now up for grabs!

This is a little personal project I took time to complete over the weekend: a set of Kubrick/Lego/Minimates styled figurines that you can customize really easily to almost any character you want.

Yes, it's really easy, I spent alot of time redesigning the template to make it really easy for you guys to do graphical work, and build.

Here's the first of the series that I did: a black costume Spidey trooper 3.2!

In all, it only took 10 minutes to customize, a minute to print and 20 minutes to build, really fast. Figure stands at about 6cm tall, approx 1.5 x the size of a LEGO figurine. Comes with a box that, can be customized as well.

Fx Console is now officially open and a first set of paper 360 models is up for customization!

All you have to do is to visit Fx Console here, download the blank 360 and 360 box templates and add your own graphics. After that, follow the instructions and send it back to Sonicscape and your work might be released in the first series.

Paper birds that go WHUT?!?

I got it: they've officially ran out of things to make custom paper toys of, which is why... you get this ultra cool set of 4 papercraft birds to make! Lol. I love the gorgeous designs though, personal favourite: the Asian/Chinese/Japanese-esque one which has beautiful plant prints on them. If I'm not mistaken, each of the four birds represents a certain culture and all the words, save for the Sun(?) symbol are actually translations of WHUT?!?.

I found this today, clear shots of the upcoming line from NECA - the first wave including a locust Drone, Marcus and Cole.

omg omg... Im hyperventilating from geeky video gaming toy ravings. This is too awesome. I like the way the Lancer is stained with blood. The Locust drone looks kind of short though. I always thought they towered a head over the humans, except in multiplayer.

Mario plus pretty much everything else

On the surface, this vid might look just like any other Mario game running on an SNES system, but look closer and you'll realise that this is actually Super Mario mashed up with elements from Halo, Sonic, Doom, Ghouls and Ghosts, Mega Man and more. Philippe Faraut, amazingly precise and skilled work

Some fine arts for you today: my friend Jimmy shared this video with me and I thought it was amazing.
Something to learn from how sculptors work:

I think he works really fast. I mean, I know the vid's sped up and all that, but looking at the way he's working, this guy has years and years of pure skill concentrated into his finger tips.

Check out the way each clump of clay is fashioned with skill and precision. It seems like he knows exactly how much to add. At the end of the sculpt, you look at what he did, and look at the original lifeless lumps of clay, then you know what it truly means to be an artist.

6" tall Sonic X action figures

I take back what I said about the lack of Sonic action figures on the market, apparently, there are! Just that they aren't readily available everywhere. This bunch of action figures from the Sonic X cartoon series stand at 6" tall and are a blast for any Sonic fans out there.

Tails seems a little too large for comfort though. From this angle he looks like he could pick Sonic up and pin him to the ground.

And... A Shadow toy that seems to be out of stock everywhere.

Damn, I was such a fanboy I used to draw Sonic the Hedgehog during classes when I was a kid, all the time... If only these toys were available then, I would have gone nuts over these things.

All hail the LEGO Master..

Is it me, or are the stuff I'm seeing coming out of these Danish bricks better and better by the day. Mark Kelso, designate LEGO Master, has built this model of the Invisible Hand, General Grevious' ship from Star Wars. And if you thought you've seen good LEGO models before, this thing redefines the meaning of LEGO.

This is so cool... It's so cool that I had to say cool thrice in two sentences. Elite HTS is the name of this international company - give them enough cash and they'll build this for you: a home theatre themed after the Batcave.

Elite HTS actually does custom home theatres to your liking, so if you're filthy rich, you can ask them to build anything you want for that theatre. I can just see Star Wars and Star Trek fans going for this one, they're that crazy about stuff.

My statue, finally finished!

Hey, sorry for filling this blog with personal work posts these few days, but hey, I can't help but want to show off some work that I just finished! And hey.. this STILL is my blog ;)

Some of you may not be familiar with this, but this is Ulquiorra from the anime series Bleach. I finally got this painted, many thanks to my friend Jimmy who did an excellent job. I practically ran to his place in excitement today to collect it, but I did a good job of concealing it.

Whole piece stands about 7" tall, and although it's looking pretty rough and all that, I love it all the same. This one goes straight onto my shelf of prized possessions.. ;)

On creating your own conceptual creature!

I was looking around the statueforums the other day, asking the pros for tips on texture creation on sculpted objects, and some really helpful guy pointed me towards one of the most amazing and helpful online tutorials you can find on creature sculpting.

Creature sculpting is the process from which people conceptualize fictional or mythical creatures as 2D art, then bring it into life with clay. This isnt any elusive sub-culture, I'm sure alot of you are familiar with this, just that you all do not realise how deeply entwined this art is with pop and gaming culture.

For example, Aliens was originally conceptualised as creature art. Movies and games that feature out of this world characters require the expertise of this sub group of sculptors. Jurassic Park certainly would have been less of a phenomenal success without the skill of the involved artists.

Smellybug is the name of this guy, and here's to share with you the most amazing tutorial he did up, from 2D art to 3D sculpture:

All the steps are in, from armature making, texture creation, smoothing out. This guy is really generous in sharing his tricks of the trade. I know some sculptors who keep their tricks to themselves in order to stand out from the rest.

Being able to draw a creature, a non-existent being in your mind, and bring it to life with clay... How cool is that? Almost like being a God.

30GB PSP like a dream.

OMG, this is like a dream come true! No more transferring of *ahem* "back-up" games when you need them, because this 30GB PSP modded by PVP_knight from Acid_mods allows you to put everything you need onto it. Yes, your huge collection of x-rated videos is officially portable.

I wish I had the skills to do something like that. My own 2 GB memory stick isn't holding out from all the pictures and videos Im taking.

Theoretically, there's no limit to this mod, so a 200 GB or what the hell, 1 TB harddisk could be squeezed inside as well.

For those of us who aren't so gifted as PVP_knight, the 16 GB Memory Stick for PSP is set to hit stores sometime this March, so there's still hope for all the thousand and one episodes of Star Trek that you're intending to rip for watching on the go. The Memory Stick is gonna cost $300 USD though, so that's gonna suck big time.

If hell had a rubber-band gun....

It would be the Disintegrator. It's time for the Nerds to rise up, and bring havoc to the lives of those who have despised geekdom! Introducing, the meanest, baddest home-made rubber band machine gun, ever:

This twin vulcan machine of death took Sayeth the builder approximately 2 weeks to build, and is capable of firing more than 40 rounds per second (2400 rounds per minute) from its 24 revolving barrels. The Disintegrator can be fired from the hip, from a table, or mounted on a tripod stand. The downside: it needs to be charged for a whopping 5 hours for 7 minutes of mass destruction.

This is soooo badasss, but unfortunately, it's not known if it's destined for mass production. I would sure love to have one of those in my porch.

I managed to get started on Marcus' C.O.G armour today and damn it's hard as hell. I spent 6 hours on it in total today, and only managed to finish the gloves! It's because the C.O.G armour is insanely detailed and every little raise or valley has to be in.

About Game Terrains and Dioramas

Cityfight Terrain from Quindia

In between Gears of War matches, I surf for random stuff on Youtube, and today, I came across something really awesome - Game Terrain/Diorama building. This is like the pinnacle of miniature model landscaping. Game terrain making is usually used by miniature enthusiasts, such as players of the Warhammer series to enhance the experience of gaming, by providing a visually pleasing environment to place miniatures in. Visually pleasing is spot on.

Baltimore Games

While many enthusiasts resort to building their own terrains, there are companies and studios that make these professionally and sell them. What you see above is a forrest terrain made by Baltimore Games for Games Day in 2001. If you're not up to forking out cash for an entire terrain like that, there are studios that sell individual parts which are otherwise too much of a hassle to make yourself - stuff like trees, rocks etc, so you can create the main structure and layout of the terrain before adding these on.

Monstro Makes

Check out this beautiful set up from Monstro Makes, complete with a miniature figurine in the corner. Buildings are in 1:65 scale, humans are sized down to approx 28 mm, so these are really small and the detailing work is just amazing. Just to own one of these on your shelf would be extremely cool. I always liked looking at architectural models and miniature landscapes - add on a little bit of imagination and it's like being transported to a whole new world.

Super Mario Dioramas: bring mario stages to your desk

Reverend Timothy (he really is a Reverend, I checked!) makes these excellent, simple and beautiful looking dioramas. He's from South Australia, Adelaide, and on top of reading the bible, he's in the information systems field and does other stuff like play music, the electric bass, extreme sports, photography, art and more. And you thought Reverends were supposed to be.... Less lifely hehe, no offense.

He has several of them up, but this is by far my favourite, with Mario at the trademark flag at the end of the stage - it makes me feel an odd sense of accomplishment likely to stem from sublimal messages and feelings recieved from playing Mario as a kid.

That might be actually useful to have on an office desk. When you feel everything is f***ed, look at it and feel accomplished lol.

Wii speakers for the ultimate Wii-fan

Check this out, a set of speakers that was designed to look Wii-esque was recently unveiled at CES. Looks really sweet: I love how the speakers look like giant erect nunchucks, and the blue strip of LEDs on the subwoofer system really completes the look.

This is one speaker system that you might want to get even if you have no real use for, since you most probably already have your own sound system set up.

Fenda's "On Play" 2.1 speaker system will be out later in the year and will set you back a mere $50 USD. According to Kotaku, they sound pretty decent, plus it comes with an additional Wii dock - spy that Wii sitting on the left side?, so it's worth a buy!

Now that's one mean looking Wii.

Holy Crap! Master Chief is now a transformer?

When I read about this, I felt totally weirded out - I mean, Halo 3 and Transformers aren't likely as pairs, but this guy, managed to fuse both characters from both worlds together, with super cool results:

Introducing... Spartan Prime!

From the creator himself:
You are looking at a very special auction for a 6" tall Transformers Custom Master Chief (AKA Spartan Prime) APC 117 Armored Personnel Carrier. This figure has been repainted to match Master Chief himself. He has multiple points of articulation and has also been sealed, meaning you can pose him in all sorts of awesome poses. Instructions are included because these figures can be hard to figure out. This guy also comes with an assortment of weapons just like the ones in the game. He also comes with a miniature version of Master Chief and an alien. Master Chief has two hidden missile bays along with some hidden grenades and pistol. But keep in mind this is a custom and no custom is perfect so be careful when posing him. The details really bring the character to life and must be seen in person, Plus I am not a vary good photographer so the pictures do not do this custom any justice! Master Chief will look great on your shelf next to the rest of your collection as an accurate portrayal of the character.

It actually transforms!

From what I understand, this is one hell of a job. The repaint job alone should cost more than $200 USD, that's the rate professional statue/bust kit painters charge.

It's currently on ebay, starting bids at 75 USD, but at the time of this post, it stands at 200 USD, which seriously, isnt much at all for this piece of beauty.

How to colour comics like the professionals

I've been searching the web for clues on how to do colouring like the kind that you see in Spawn comics, they have some killer art going on. I remember a time when Marvel comics didnt look the way they look now, until somewhere in the late 90s, comics such as the Darkness and Witchblade started appearing, with completely revolutionized art and colouring styles. After that, correct me if Im wrong, Marvel started to make the shift towards the kind of art that you see today.

Now, if you compare the old school Spiderman comic drawing with the Darkness, you'll see a HUGE difference in style and time spent on beefing up the highlights and shades.

So, here's how you can colour your own drawings the way they do it, to achieve the same kind of effects you see on comics today - I found this absolutely informative article from Steel Dolphin, by Chris Arlidge on all the steps from Penciled Art, to Line Art, and then to the coloured beauty that you see on comic books. The only downside is, you need to have Photoshop - I can almost hear the groans now. What, you didnt expect to be able to do this without image editting software did you?

I have some good news for ya, Photoshop IS available for free downloads, Im not talking about the pirated torrent versions, but the free 30 day tria you can get right here. If you like it, grab a copy of Photoshop essentials, instead of the Creative Suite line, because the price difference is almost 6-7 x if Im not wrong, the former costing over a hundred, and the latter close to a grand.

Build a gigantic paper transformer!

Down with commercial Transformer toys! This set of paper Transformers from Kook, modeled after the original animated series does away with the need to buy actual toys. And I had a brain wave - while it costs hundreds to buy a large scale Transformer, why not grab these paper templates, upsize it by a million times and you have an instant metre tall transformer for you room!

Spray on a primer, paint it over and you have a hell of a toy for your desk - all for just a few bucks. I guess this is the major advantage of a paper template: it's hundred percent customizable, including SIZE.

Also provided are templates for various other Transformers, including an uber cool decepticon: Ravage.

Does anyone else think this is a great idea? Or am I the only nutjob.

It's been sometime since I posted my own works, so here are some pictures of a Marcus Fenix (from Gears of War) bust that Im working on. This little baby has been lying on my shelf for sometime, after I burnt myself out working with clay, but today, I took it down today to detail and bake.

I haven't added the armour yet, so don't ask why he's naked!

General pose - I'm giving him a sad, but undefeated look - the kind of attitude u need when your father is dead and there are hordes of Locusts running around your backyard.

I hope you Gears fans liked that! It's still unfinished, lots of work to do with the armour plates, as well as a hell of a paint job.

How to customize your own action figures

Damn those toy companies
Are you absolutely dying for a toy that the damn toy companies won't mass produce simply because there isn't enough of a demand for it? You are not alone. An entire community of action figure customizers exists on the world wide web, and what these guys do is to take your regular action figures from the store, tear them up into pieces, resculpt certain parts and mod them into one of a kind uber cool creations.

An example: Jin Saotome's Helghast Custom

Make no mistake, those eyes are indeed glowing! You're looking at a one of kind Hellghast Soldier figurine from Killzone. Action figure modder Jin drilled out the eyes from another action figure and replaced them with LEDs. Press a button on the back and the eyes light up. Add a killer paint job with weathering, mud stains and more: you have an instant piece of art that's completely unique.

Sell them
There's C.A.S.E, which stands for Customizer's Auction Sales on Ebay, a network dedicated to the international sales of custom action figures. A set of action figures could easily go for hundreds of USD, so, if you're good at what you do, and willing to part with your prized possessions, that's plenty of cash heading your way.

You're interested in doing this, but don't know where to start
I started sculpting myself with some help from Jin Saotome (no, not the video gaming character from Capcom) himself, emailed him on where to get started, materials and stuff last year. He has some pretty excellent guides and tutorials on his page to usher you straight into the world of action figure customization. You need some basic skills in sculpting, clay - both oven bake and air dry, as well as a simple set of brushes and some modelling paints.

DIY turntable mod for Guitar Hero turns me on

This is awesome, this guy modded a turntable to function as a controller for Guitar Hero - the result, xtreme deejay button bashing fun. The turntabling action substitutes the guitar strum:

Apart from the fact that it looked semi obscene, with a guy rubbing something near his crotch area, that was an amazing idea and a great mod.

Ryo makes an SNES papercraft!

Another update from Ryo, last giving us the papercraft SNES controller. Now it's a full SNES console:

The model comes with a blank cartridge template, and multiple game labels, so you can build many different game cartridges. For more choices, VG Museum has a fair collection of SNES cartridge/box art scans, just download the image, resize it and stick on the label onto Ryo's cartridge templates.

Doom + Mario = Bloody good fun.

Literally bloody, as this Doom mod gives u the ability to blow away goombas with a shot gun - check out the way the Goombas disappear with a shower of red, seems like those things are really nasty chunks of blood filled meat.

Rommy, adorable robot puppy thingy

Tetsuya Watabe, paper engineer from Japan brings the most wonderful paper toy series Rommy, completely nails it with clean cut lines, bold colours, simple and aesthetically pleasing designs. I dig paper toys like that, seriously.

Rommy, as you can see, is extremely adorable and vies for your attention with those puppy eyes glistening with puppy tears and puppy love. Goodness. Now they've managed to make Robots cute - what else could the Japanese possibly turn into the category of the Kawaii.

This should be an easy build, not taking you more than 20 minutes, so, be sure to keep your boss out of sight while you work on this.

Pop up card designer - OH so that's how they do it

Ever wondered how those guys who design complicated looking pop up cards do it with ease? Here's a clue, they use something running Windows on Intel processors to help them. I'm not too sure how many pop up card designers actually use their mind power to design how the paper displays fold, but Im pretty sure, this is the easiest way out --- Introducing, from the same guys who brought to us that neato papercraft designer, a Pop Up Card Designer!

Pop-up Card Designer is a Windows application, which generates an unfolded pattern of Pop Up Cards. With simple interface, you can get unfolded pattern of your own original Pop Up Cards.

And... as do all freeware, there are limitations, unless you whip out that Mastercard of yours, you only have access to a limited number of grids for simple designs.

Worth a try, I reckon. It would be seriously awesome, to have make a card that pops out say, weapons from games e.g. Lancer from Gears of War (excuse my incessant Gears of War references). I have no idea how difficult it would be to design something like that.

Anyone who tries out this software, do let us know if it really does deliver.

Upcoming Gentle Giant Halo 3 busts

Gentle Giant is finally releasing their own set of Halo 3 busts and they look awesome. With the upcoming Halo 3 line from McFarlane, and Kotobukiya's awesome sculpt, it seems that Halo fans have no lack of toys this year. On the other hand, NECA's Gears of War line is still on it's way, and it's killing me, slowly but surely. Damn, it sure is taking forever.

This set of Halo 3 busts also come in blue and red spartan armour and stands at 7.5" tall. Each bust comes with interchangeable arms and weapon configurations, including an energy sword. Currently up for pre-orders via Gentle Giant, these works of art will set you back $55 USD, pretty fair.

Rayman Raving Rabbids plush toy deserves a cuddle

Ryo makes a nice little SNES controller

I woke up this morning to find this nice little surprise in my email. Ryo from Chile created a simple to build, yet nice to display model of an SNES controller for us.

Here it is:

Model's really easy to build with great results. You could actually play with the size of the template, make about a million of these and put them in a glass jar: that would make an excellent display and conversational piece in your living room. Warning, might reveal to your friends how much of a geek you are for video gaming ;)

Wow Wee unveils their next line of products

Wow Wee shows off their new line of robo toys @ CES, which once again, look incredibly cool to own. The line includes Mr. Personality, Rovio, and Flytech Bladestar, of which, I think Rovio might just be the coolest of the 3 to get.

Rovio

Rovio's a webcam enabled bot equipped with a Northstar GPS system for maximum voyeuristic joy - you can technically control this bot from anywhere in the world and spy on your family members, neighbours etc. Pretty cool to do some late night exploring of places that you wouldn't actually be, right in the comforts of your own room. Images I shamelessly pilfered from Engadget.

Mr Personality

Mr Personality's the replacement for last year's Robosapien and is supported on 3 wheels for maximum movement range and it's controlled by a Wii-esque motion sensing remote, allowing u to hurl Mr Personality against the wall with maximum strength when you're pissed. Mr Personality also tells cheesy jokes which are hopefully better than Robosapien V2's farting gestures.

And...

Bladestar

Which is supposed to be an autonomous indoor flying chopper. I'm not too sure how good the autonomous function of this Bladestar is so far. The idea sounds pretty cool, but thinking back on what Robosapien V2 did to my fish tank on autonomous mode, it might be a better idea to keep those independent robotic ambitions in check.

Im back for 2008, so show me some love

I'm (Sonicscape) back for 2008! After taking a long break from updating my own blog with personal works, my new year resolution is to bring you all better and cooler art projects on my personal blog @ http://sonicscapejun.blogspot.com

I've been doing more of sculptures, creating my own statues, busts and more, but I'll try to bring myself to do more gadget models from paper so that the art work can be shared. Besides, I miss those furious clicking sessions on Photoshop.

Show me some love, by dropping by my blog and giving me some comments every now and then ;). I'll be updating the site with a more personal touch, and I'd love to hear from you readers. Some of my favourite works from the past year, mostly models from paper are up in the gallery, for easier downloads, and I'll be updating with some of my sculpts soon.

Gizmodo's Nintendo DS2 mock up rox!

Phil Nolan, a 3D artist, and Gizmodo reader, did up his own render of a DS2, sporting a super sleek shell and mega huge LCD screens that would send PSP straight to the depths of gadget hell.

WTH is Atari Breakout?

Back in the days when Atari had an iron grip on home based video gaming, they tried to bring handheld gaming to us in the forms of consoles such as Lynx and Touch Me. Atari Breakout, is one of the prototypes for a handheld console that never made it to the consumer market.

Designed by Linda Whitten formerly with Atari's Consumer Electronics Division, there are only 2 of such units in the galaxy.

Right now, it's going for $510 USD on ebay, a small price to pay for a piece of history.

XtremeWorlds lets you create your own MMORPGs

Ever had the idea to create your own world, complete with custom items, skills and characters made to your specifications? Now you can, with XtremeWorlds, a free MMORPG maker.

XtremeWorlds is a simple to use, powerful 2D MMORPG Engine. It combines an SNES like graphic system with the creativity of many to create unique worlds in which a player may interract and play. Players can also attack one another, as well as embark on quests for items.

All you need to do, is to set up the programme and RPG, mostly with pre existing code and images and configure your PC to act as a server for the game.

For an example, check out Jerrath, an MMORPG made off XtremeWorlds.

We're still hoping for an easy to use 3D MMORPG maker to come along, but it seems like current technology has yet to bring that into our homes.

Miniature companion cubes!

Unlike the ones we've seen so far, which are made out of paper, these were actually hand carved, then machine lasered from aluminium bars into weighted miniature companion cubes! Made by Ben over at doofycrap.com

Masterpiece Cloud Strife will slice holes

Through your wallet that is, if you want to get a piece of this masterpiece toy of Cloud Strife from FFVII Advent Children. Cloud stands at 19" tall, in 1/4th scale glory, and will set you back $400USD. As though one sword is not enough for some wallet dicing action, he holds two of them. Each sword is really half of the combined sword. Under the guidance of character designer Tetsuya Nomura, this 19" figurine was recreated with face-modeling faithful to the CG model, and a multi-material costume that utilizes cloth, metal, and artificial leather.

Rockstar Wii - Extremely yummy

We've seen a fair share of Wii mods, but this is extremely stylishly and tastefully done.

We love the colour combination, light arrangements and beautiful logo that this Wii sports - extremely tasteful!

Playing Grand Theft Auto on this must be extremely rewarding.

Contra papercraft for Christmas

Here's an excellent papercraft we unearthed from the internet on the Contra series. Originally released in 1987 as a side scrolling shoot-em-up, Contra has released numerous installments that has captivated action gamers since. We remember clutching our NES controllers and banging A and B buttons furiously when we were kids.

Devil May Cry Dante sculpture rocks

Kotobukiya, responsible for bringing us top notch sculptures and toys such as a highly detailed Halo 3 Master Chief has delivered again, just in time for the release of the next installment in the immensely fun Devil May Cry series. If you havent tried that game, we strongly recommend picking up Devil May Cry 4, set to hit stores early 2008. There's nothing quite like blowing off demon heads with twin guns while falling through the air and ending it off with a blow with a big, awesome sword. It's therapeutic.

This PVC Dante sculpture is up for grabs. Kotobukiya's sculptures are almost always fairly priced and definitely affordable, so you're in luck if your pockets are near empty after this Christmas. Also available is Vergil.

Mod your Wii Nunchuck into a robot controller

They seem to be modding the Wii-mote into everything these days. How long more before we see Wii controlled sex-toys?

Once again, you can skip the mumbo jumbo right till the end where he shows how the accelerometer controls his bot.

Frank writes -

I connected a Wii Nunchuck controller to an Arduino, which takes the data from the controller's I2C data bus, decodes it, and send the data to the robot with a radio transmitter. Charlie uses a radio receiver to get the data, and it will control the drive servo system and the pan tilt servo system using the data. The Nunchuck has a 3 axis accelerometer, a joystick, and 2 buttons, it is absolutely awesome to use with a RC robot like this.

Well Frank, your bot may not look like a much right now, but the idea you've got is completely awesome. Imagine being able to control more fluid robotics with movements of your hand - awesome!

Johnny Lee brings in a new era for the Wii

If you havent seen this vid yet, you should - how to make a home-made head tracking device for the Wii. Basically, head motion tracking is the first step towards VR gaming, to be able to adapt perspectives and images on the screen to the angle at which the player is viewing the scene.

Be warned, the starting of the video is a little slow, but once he gets down to showing off how this thing actually works, he really kicks up some serious shit.

Gears of War Action Figures up for pre-order

The world rejoiced when NECA clinched a deal with Epic Games to bring us the much awaited Gears of War toys. They promised us action figures, statues, dioramas and more. Now, Epic Games has been really uptight about their toy range and use of their trademarks, so this is some news that finally we can get our own 7" Marcus Fenixes to display in lewd positions. You might remember the deal on cartoon coloring artist Emilio Lopez, who was issued a Cease and Desist order from Epic Games for painting a Munny Doll to look like Marcus Fenix and giving it to his cousin - f********* ridiculous in our opinion.

Series 1 of 7" action figures from Gears of War are finally up for pre-orders. They cost $39.99 USD for the entire first set and series one includes Marcus the man himself, Dominic Santiago and a Locust Drone. Each figure is fully-poseable with over 12 points of articulation. Each figure includes game-specific weapons and accessories.

This paper gun comes in the form of a 30 bucks kit with an instructional poster.

We all played with LEGO when we were kids. And we all sucked at it when we were kids. And now, when our artistry skills have improved, we can't bring ourselves to go about purchasing and renewing our LEGO supplies.

Fiddling with this SNES brings new meaning to morning wood

This guy brings wood back into the scene with this completely classic mod of an SNES: an entire Super Nintendo Entertainment system crammed into a custom wooden case! Complete with a screen taken from PSOne, speakers and headphone jacks. From what we understand, he's an engineer, so that explains his modding abilities.
